“Mania” is about mass hysteria, that fervent, passionate loss of self in the adoration of another. It is about bliss, a scary moment, when you become uncontrollably euphoric. These are a series of painting/photographs made from historical images of mania. Chosen like the pressing of the shutter, edited like choosing frames in a film. These paintings mirror the division in our society. They show the abandon of reasonable thought and brings into question what we worship and what can follow. We can only hope, as history has shown us, that this worship is not misguided.
