Nabu is the ancient Mesopotamian god of wisdom. Wisdom is contemplation, it is thought. It is also who King Nebuchadnezzar II was named after. ( meaning “O god Nabu, preserve/defend my firstborn son” – king of Babylon c. 605 BC – c. 562 BC. ) Nebuchadnezzar is also one of the few kings in the bible that are historically accurate.
His life is the source of these drawings. His dreams of a unstable 7 sided structure. How a man who could create something so beautiful as the hanging gardens of Babylon could cause the destruction of the Temple of Israel. And how can someone go mad, walk on all fours for 7 years, then one day stand up and be cured of this madness.
It all began with my questioning his thoughts and asking what does a line look like that depicts thoughts, dreams, hopes, wisdom.
