Mania is series of paintings about mass hysteria. That crazy, fervent, passionate loss of self in the adoration of another. It’s the wildness in someone’s expression. It’s about bliss, a scary moment, when you become uncontrollably euphoric. These are a series of painting/photographs made from historical images of mania. Chosen like the pressing of the shutter, edited like choosing frames in a film. Paintings that mirror the division too prevalent today. They depict the abandon of reasonable thought which brings into question what we worship and who we follow. With history as our teacher, we can only hope that this worship is not misguided.
